Mr. Art Gilliam the President and CEO of WLOK Communications, has owned WLOK Radio, for 49 years.
You can find us on FM 105, the only black-owned FM station in Memphis, and AM 1340, the first black owned radio station in Memphis.
Mr. Art Gilliam was featured on Fox 13 as they celebrated 2026 Black History Month.

Gilliam Foundation and WLOK Radio are, as part of the WLOK Black Film Festival, sponsoring a presentation of works by aspiring new filmmakers. The WLOK Black Film Festival will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Malco Studio on the Square at 7:00 pm. Anyone who would like to have their new film considered for screening will need to submit a download link to their entry to: dorritgilliam.gfi@gmail.com
For the purpose of this film festival, a black film is defined as a film with one or more of the following attributes:
1. Produced or directed by a black filmmaker.
2. Has a black actor (s) in a significant role (s).
3. Deals with social justice issues of significance to the black community.

The mission of the WLOK Black Film Festival is to present a broad spectrum of quality black films which are entertaining and culturally enriching and to encourage recognition and appreciation of black films and blacks in the film industry.
Film requirements:
The film must be for general audiences
The format must be 1080 to 4 k
The length of the film must be 15 to 25 minutes
The entry deadline is July 15, 2026.

There is no entry fee. All films submitted will be reviewed by professionals with credentials in the arts for approval for presentation at the festival. Winner prize is $1,000.
